Absolutely unique, handmade, fused glass NORI brick dish/tray.
Each one of these is made using individual pieces of fused glass, slumped over a genuine, vintage NORI brick.
Handmade in our own little glass studio, these go through "Kelvin the kiln" a number of times to take on the true texture, wording and scratches from the original NORI brick.
Original, vintage NORI bricks were renowned for their hardness and durability. So much so that the foundations of Blackpool tower and the Empire State Building. Not bad for a little brickworks in Accrington, Lancashire. Rumour has it that the Name NORI came about when the letters IRON were accidentally placed in the brick moulds backwards, thus spelling NORI.
These handmade, fused glass dishes or trays are totally unique and no two will ever be exactly the same due to the process when creating them. Each one will contain different champagne bubbles, adding to the character and appeal. The wording reads ACCRINGTON NORI B&T CO LD from The Accrington Brick And Tile Company Limited.
Ideal for anyone nostalgic about our home town of Accrington, or about bricks, these can be used as a desk tray, jewellery tray, for change or just as a unique, decorative item. Four tiny clear rubber feet on the base ensure the dish is stable on a desk, dressing table or any other flat surface.
Each of these dishes is handmade to order and take up to 2 weeks to make. They will all be a slightly different shade of red but if you would like one in a different colour, please just let us know and we'll be more than happy to help.
